When installing an audio driver on an old Vista-era Dell desktop that was running Windows 10, I got the error This operation requires an interactive window station and the install failed. I found a solution that worked for me: 1) Take ownership of these folders and give the administrators group Full Control: C:\Windows\system32\drivers C:\Windows\system32\driverstore C:\Windows\system32\drvstore 2) Try the driver install again. It should work without error this time. 3) Afterwards, you can just leave the permission changes in place, or you can undo those changes to ownership and permissions.
